Already have a website? We will take it over.

The most common call we get is not from somebody with no website. It is from somebody whose website exists, looks a decade old, and cannot be changed because the person who built it stopped answering emails in 2019.

From $99/month + $99 one-time setup · 12-month initial term

The usual situations

  • The developer disappeared, and nobody knows where the site is even hosted
  • It is on a builder platform whose subscription keeps rising and whose editor nobody enjoys
  • It looks fine on a laptop and falls apart on a phone
  • It is slow enough that people leave before it finishes loading
  • The prices, services or hours have been wrong for a year
  • It was built on a plugin stack that now needs constant attention to stay working

We keep what is worth keeping

A redesign is not an excuse to throw away everything. If your existing site has copy that reads well, photos of real jobs, or pages that already attract search traffic, that is an asset and it comes across.

The part that matters most technically is redirects. When URLs change without proper redirects, whatever search equity those pages had is thrown in the bin, and any link anybody ever sent to them breaks. We map old URLs to new ones so that does not happen.

What we need from you

Less than you would expect. Access to manage the domain’s DNS is usually the main thing, and in most cases the domain can stay registered exactly where it is. If you do not know who your registrar is or where the site is hosted, that is a normal starting point and we can usually work it out from public records with you.

Before we change any DNS we check what is currently running on it — in particular your email. Repointing a domain without looking at the existing records is the fastest way to take down working email alongside the old website.

What happens to the old site

It stays live until the new one is ready. We build on a private preview link, you review it, and the switch happens once you approve — usually a short DNS change with no visible gap.

If you were paying for hosting, a builder subscription or plugin licences on the old setup, those are yours to cancel once the new site is live. We will tell you when it is safe to do it, but the accounts are in your name and we would rather you close them yourself than hand us the keys.

Questions

Website redesign & takeover — common questions

  • Usually we rebuild rather than lift-and-shift, because the reasons a site needs taking over are usually the reasons it is not worth preserving in place. If your current site is genuinely fine and only needs hosting and maintenance, tell us on the call — we will say so rather than sell you a rebuild.

  • That is exactly what proper redirects are for. We map the old URLs to their new equivalents so existing links and search results keep working. No one can guarantee ranking positions, but throwing them away through sloppy migration is entirely avoidable and we avoid it.

  • No. In most takeovers the domain stays registered exactly where it is and we simply connect it to the hosting and DNS we manage. Connecting it is part of the setup fee, and we check your existing website and email settings before changing anything.

  • No. It is the same $99 setup and the same monthly plans. If a migration turns out to involve unusual complexity — a large site, an ecommerce catalogue, a custom integration — we quote that separately and in writing before starting.
