What "managed" means here
Your site runs on infrastructure we operate through Cloudflare, and we are the ones who look after it. You do not buy a hosting plan, choose a server, renew a certificate, or receive an invoice from a company you have never heard of.
You also never get the 6am email telling you the site is down and asking you to log into a control panel you have not opened in two years. If something technical breaks, it is ours to fix, and it is already paid for.
Fast by construction, not by plugin
Speed on a local service site is mostly decided before anything is hosted. We build lightweight pages, size images properly, and avoid the stacks of page-builder scripts that make a simple five-page site load like a web application.
Serving from Cloudflare’s network then keeps it quick for somebody on a phone on the far side of the valley. There is no caching plugin to configure and nothing for you to tune.
SSL and technical maintenance
Every site we host is served over HTTPS with a valid certificate, kept current automatically. Browsers flag sites that are not, and that warning costs you customers before they ever see the page.
Technical maintenance covers keeping the site’s software current and working. Because we build without a plugin ecosystem, there is far less to break in the first place — most of the maintenance burden on a typical small business site comes from add-ons it did not need.
What we do not claim
We are deliberate about this. Uptime monitoring and automated backups of form submissions are not currently part of the service, so we do not list them as if they were. Plenty of providers advertise both without either being meaningfully configured.
What does exist: full version history of your site’s code and content, so a change can be reverted, and hosting we actively manage during support hours — Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm Arizona time.
No domain yet? We will sort it out
We help you choose a name that is actually available and register it on your behalf. You give written approval of both the name and the registration cost before we buy anything — nothing gets purchased by surprise.
Our preferred default is then to administer that domain through Tesseract North’s managed Cloudflare account for as long as we are providing your service. That is what lets us handle DNS, SSL and hosting changes without sending you into a registrar control panel. It is an administrative arrangement, not a change of ownership: the domain is registered for your business using your correct registrant details, and you keep the domain rights set out in your service agreement.
Two things that arrangement never does: it never makes the domain part of a website buyout, and it is never held against an outstanding website-service balance. If you would rather hold a newly registered domain in your own registrar account instead, say so and we will set it up that way.
Registration and renewal charges are separate from your website subscription. We tell you the cost up front and bill it on at cost.
Already have a domain? It can stay where it is
We can usually keep it registered with your existing provider and simply connect it to the hosting and DNS services we manage through Cloudflare. There is rarely any reason to move a domain just to change who builds your website.
Before changing anything we check your existing website and email settings. This is the step that gets skipped most often and causes the most damage — point a domain at a new host without looking, and you can take down working email along with the old site.
Connecting your domain at launch is part of the setup fee, whether it is a domain we registered for you or one you already had.
Leaving, or taking the domain in-house
If you want to manage the domain yourself or move it to another provider, we help arrange its release or account transfer — subject to that provider’s transfer requirements and any applicable locks, which are their rules rather than ours.
Basic domain release or account handoff is included. Additional migration work is quoted and approved before it starts. And domain handoff is a separate matter from transferring website files, hosting or email: they are different things, they happen on different timelines, and you are never required to buy your domain back.
